Red Lobster®
Inspired by vernacular lettering found on fishermen’s boats, where typography is shaped by necessity, handcraft, and lived experience rather than formal design rules.
The irregular, hand-painted letters, shifting scales, and overlapping composition reflect the raw, functional markings seen on boat hulls names, prices, and symbols applied quickly and intuitively.
By translating this visual language into a graphic context, the piece embraces an authentic, unpolished aesthetic that connects directly to maritime culture, manual labor, and the origin of the product, moving away from polished advertising and toward cultural expression.
